Strengthening Leadership
From 1987 to February 2020, the IAO® always had at least two Principals. In recent years, Grégoire has been the sole Principal leading the organization. With Yourik’s appointment, the IAO® is returning to a leadership structure with two Principals, enabling us to grow both academically and organizationally.
Who is Yourik van Overloop?
Yourik has been a familiar face within the IAO® for many years. His in-depth knowledge and dedication have made a lasting impact on both students and colleagues. In addition to his role at the IAO®, Yourik is an award-winning lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During the 2024 VU Teacher Awards, he received no less than three awards:
- Best Lecturer for Year 1 of the Bachelor of Medicine.
- Best Module “Construction and Movement”.
- Best Practical Session “Anatomy”.
These accolades underscore his commitment, expertise, and the inspiring way in which he shares his knowledge. As Principal at the IAO®, Yourik will focus on innovation and quality in our education and will play a key role in the academic development of our organization.

A historic milestone
This appointment marks the first time that a Principal is not one of the founders. This historic moment reflects our willingness to continue innovating and looking ahead while remaining true to our roots.
A word from Grégoire Lason
“The appointment of Yourik as second Principal is a natural step in the evolution of the IAO®. Yourik brings fresh energy and vision to our organization. Together, we will continue to build a strong academic foundation and a solid future for the IAO®.”
