Integrative Osteopathic Approach to Urogynaecology in women’s health

This 3-day advanced training enables osteopaths to integrate a comprehensive and hands-on approach to the assessment and treatment of urogynaecological disorders.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Deepen their understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics of the urinary and reproductive systems.
  • Recognize osteopathic dysfunctions associated with incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, and related conditions.
  • Apply safe and effective external and internal osteopathic techniques, including palpation and hypopressive techniques.
  • Integrate clinical reasoning to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Practice within ethical and legal boundaries, ensuring informed consent and patient comfort.

Through lectures, demonstrations, and extensive practical workshops, participants will gain the confidence and clinical skills to enhance their osteopathic management of urogynaecological patients.

Day 1 and 2

  • Introduction, presentation of the course plan
  • Review of the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system
  • Anatomy and function of the muscles around the pelvis region
  • Urinary pathologies, review of osteopathic dysfunctions related to incontinence disorders
  • Types of incontinence and anatomical structures related to them
  • Osteopathic approach to painful bladder syndrome, chronic pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapses
  • Introduction to gynecology, anatomy, physiology
  • Dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, uterine fibroids and
  • Osteopathic hypopressive keys
  • Several practical workshops

Day 3

  • Explanation of protocol and methodology for internal approach, assessment and treatment
  • Preparation for the practical workshop on methodology, questions and answers
  • Practical workshop on methodology
  • Therapeutic tools

Claudia Béland

DO

Claudia began her career in the healthcare field as a nurse in 1997, and has since worked in a variety of specialties, including intensive care, emergency room and recovery room in several hospitals around the province, internationally and in Northern Quebec.

Passionate about the human body, she went on to study osteopathy at CEO, graduating in 2012 with a post-graduate diploma in the clinician program and several specialized courses. She joined the Clinique Camirand Muzzi team in January 2013.

A mother of two, Claudia has a keen interest in obstetrics, gynecology, fertility and women’s health. She has participated in several continuing education programs in obstetrics, gynecology and endocrinology, and has completed over 40 hours of training in pelvic prolapse.

She has been on the faculty of CEO de Montréal since 2017, where she teaches urogynecology and obstetrics. She also teaches medical specialists and other osteopaths in a specialty program in Uro-Gynecology and Obstetrics, developed by Nathalie Camirand and offered in France and Germany. In addition to collaborating with the associations: Endométriose Québec and Vivre 100Fibromes, en 2021, she has co-created with a nutritionist (Céline Saloumi), an online support program for women with endometriosis. She is a member of Osteopathie Québec and the Ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Qc.
